2 from Woonsocket killed in Conn. car wreck

WESTPORT, Mass. (AP) — Two people from Rhode Island are dead after a car they were riding in rolled over several times in the early hours of the new year before ending up in the embankment on I-95 North in Connecticut.
The Hartford Courant identified the dead as 46-year-old Terrance Bernard and 25-year-old Savannah Wakely of Woonsocket, who were passengers.
The crash also injured the 32-year-old driver, Jamain Jerry Allen, and 27-year-old Jennifer Shaver, all of Bridgeport.
The Westport Fire Department says state troopers received several 911 calls at about 3 a.m. reporting a car over the embankment between exits 18 and 19 in Westport.
Firefighters from Westport and Fairfield responded to the scene.
State police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said Sunday that officers are still investigating and could not immediately comment.
