MENDON- Arthur C. Manstream Jr., 72, of Asylum St. died Wed. Dec. 28 after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Virginia M. (Piorkowski) Manstream; his 4 children Susan M. Ethier and her husband Joseph with whom he lived, David T. Manstream of NY City, Steven M. Manstream of Milford, and Kathleen M. Manstream of Long Island, NY; 4 grandchildren Joseph Ethier, Rebecca Eland, Jocelyn Brant, and Daniel Ethier; and several nephews and nieces.
Born in Portchester, NY on July 16, 1939 he was the son of Arthur C. Sr. and Helen (Gayno) Manstream and lived in Mendon 12 years.
Mr. Manstream worked as a quality control engineer for Ahistrom Inc. in Bellingham for 35 years, retiring in 2008. He had worked with this company since its beginning when it was Fiber-Taxis Inc. Previously he was employed at Felters Corp. in Millbury several years. A graduate of Greenwich High School in CT, Arthur also earned an associate degree in Computer Science at Dean College. He served in the U.S. Army as an operating room technician, stationed in Germany.
An avid outdoorsman, Arthur loved hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, and camping. He enjoyed saltwater fishing and was a member of the RI Mobile Sportfishing Club. He also was a skilled in woodworking and was eager to lend a hand to anyone needing help with a project. He was also known for his mechanical skills and metal working. Art was a member of the NRA and the Hopedale Rifle and Pistol Club.
His funeral service will be held Tues. Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Mon. Jan 2 from 4 to 8 and Tues.
