NORTH SMITHFIELD - William Joseph Figuerido Sr., 81, of North Smithfield, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012, at the Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket.
He was born May 7, 1930 in Millville, MA, son of the late William and Frances (Sacco) Figuerido.
Known by many as the GRADER MAN, William was a heavy equipment operator, worked for the R. A. Burgesson & Sons Construction Company in Woonsocket for over 35 years, as well as Narragansett Improvement Company in Providence for 10 years. He was a member of Local 57 Union for Operating Engineers. He also worked as a barber for Syls Barbershop in Woonsocket. William served in the United States Navy and achieved the rank of 3rd Class Petty Officer, and is a Vet of the Korean War.
During his spare time, William enjoyed hunting, fishing, working out in his garden, raising animals, and just being in the great outdoors. He was a loving father and devoted husband, who will be greatly missed by those that have come to know and love him.
William is survived by his former wife Angela Figuerido of North Smithfield of 39 years, his son, William Joseph Figuerido, Jr. of North Smithfield; his daughter Kim Figuerido of North Providence; 2 granddaughters - Chelsea and Cara Figuerido, both of North Smithfield; 1 brother Robert Figuerido of Milford, MA and 3 sisters- Mary Langlois of Bellingham, MA; Dorothy Force of Hollywood, FL and Barbara Giguere of Woonsocket, RI.
He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Figuerido and a sister Elizabeth Betty Jordan.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, January 7 in the Egidio DiPardo & Sons Funeral Home 75 Harris Avenue, Woonsocket at 1 PM. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11AM-1PM.
