NORTH SMITHFIELD- Dezima "Daisy" Durand, 96, of North Smithfield, RI passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2012 at The Holiday in Manville, RI with family by her side. She was the beloved wife for 72 years of the late Leo A. Durand deceased on December 22, 2007.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on November 9, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Armand and Lydia (Tetreault) Guertin.
She was the loving sister of Paul Guertin and his wife Rita of Cumberland, RI and the late Doris Robert, Rita Vermette, and Alice Careau. She also leaves her niece and caregiver Gertrude Langlois and her husband Leo of Blackstone, MA and nieces and nephews.
A resident of North Smithfield for most of her life, she had worked at Lafayette Worsted and Argren Worsted for many years until retiring. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church of Woonsocket.
Devoted to her family, she will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 8:30AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM at Holy Family Church, 414 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, RI. Visiting time will be from 8:30 to 10:00AM at the funeral home prior to Mass.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Holy Family Church Restoration Fund, 414 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895 would be appreciated.
