Raymond D. Denis

WOONSOCKET- Raymond D. Denis, 83, of Knight St., passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Johanne M. (Bombardier) whom he married on October 4, 1952. Raymond and Johanne would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in October. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late George and Florina (Rondeau) Denis.

Mr. Denis was an employee of the City of Woonsocket for over thirty years retiring as Chief Minimum Housing Inspector. A 1947 Graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy, he was past President of the Mount Saint Charles Alumni Association and named “Man of the Year” in 1977. He was Treasurer of the R.I. Minimum Housing Association and a lifetime member of the Musicians Union. Raymond was an avid power-boater for forty years, keeping his two boats, "Johanne" in Wickford Cove. He loved spending time with his family, particularly on Narragansett Bay. He will be remembered as a humble and gentle man who found pleasure helping others. He always had a smile on his face.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary Denis and his wife Monette and Brian Denis, all of Woonsocket, a daughter, Rae-Ann Yamzon and her husband Paul of North Smithfield and two beloved granddaughters, Danielle Marland and her husband Jonathan of Cranston and Micheline Denis of Johnston. He was the brother of the late George Denis and Rita Casalin.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St, Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4–8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Saint Charles Development Fund, 800 Logee St., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
