January 14, 2012

WARWICK – Mount St. Charles suffered another tough Division I loss on Saturday night, losing a 3-2 decision to unbeaten Bishop Hendricken.
Dave Mitchell netted a power-play goal with 3:48 left in the game to break the tie and improve the Hawks’ league record to 8-0-1. Four-time defending state champion Mount fell to 4-4.
Hendricken took a 1-0 lead in the first period when senior forward Robert Beuhrer beat Mount goalie Brian Larence. Mount tied the game late in the second period on a goal by Brandon Borges.
Hendricken went back ahead 2-1 at the 3:29 mark of the third period on a goal by Paul Fillipone, only to have Mount tie the game on a power-play goal by Ben Handanyan at the 10:28 mark.
Mount then committed a penalty that put Hendricken back on the power play and the Hawks converted just 54 seconds after Handanyan’s goal.
Mount outshot Hendricken 38-23 but Hawks goalie Bill Palmer stopped 36 saves. Larence made 20 saves for the Mounties.
