WOONSOCKET- Frank F. Malito, 94, of Diamond Hill Rd., died Monday, January 23, 2012, in Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of almost 50 years to the late Florence R. (Valois) Malito.
Born in West Warwick, son of the late Antonio and Amelia (Sabatini) Malito.
Mr. Malito was a United States, Army Air Force WWII Veteran. He was former Vice Commander of the Andrew F. Young Post 3, of the American Legion.
He was a Professional Singer in the 1940's and 1950's, singing in Clubs in the Boston and Connecticut areas. He was a former member of the American Guild of Variety Artist of Providence until 1952. His stage name was Frankie Mel.
Mr. Malito was a Bank Guard for 16 years, for the former Hospital Trust Bank in Pawtucket, R.I. He also volunteer for two of his great loves, St. Anthony's Parish, and the Stadium Theatre, in Woonsocket.
He is survived by one daughter, Patricia and her husband William L. Casey of Woonsocket. He also was the grandfather of John Francis Casey, of Woonsocket.
He is also survived by two sisters, Clementina Long and her husband Richard Curtis, of Woonsocket, Theresa and her husband Kenneth Milligan of Cumberland. Two brothers, Ralph A. Malito of Pascoag, and Clemento Malito of Providence. He was also the brother of the late Clemento "Little Caruso" Malito, Helen Harnois, and Joseph Malito, Josephine Hudon, and Vera Rainville.
His funeral will be held on Friday January 27, 2012, at 9 A.M. from the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Anthony's Church, Greene St. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are Thursday from 5-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations in Frank's memory to St. Anthony's Church, Greene St. and The Stadium Theatre Foundation, Monument Square and Thundermist Health, 450 Clinton St. all in Woonsocket, R.I. 02895, would be appreciated.
