WOONSOCKET- Mary A. (Coleman) Scurry, 67, of South St., died January 31, 2012, in Landmark Medical Center, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Clarence E. Scurry who passed away in 2009.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late James Coleman and Odessa (Burden) Coleman of High Point North Carolina.
Mary was the first African American born in the Woonsocket Hospital, now Landmark Medical Center.
Mary worked for Consolidated Print for several years, prior to retiring.
She is survived by two sons, Willie R. Scurry of Woonsocket, and Bruce E. and his wife Tracy Scurry of Woonsocket. One brother Thomas Coleman of Pawtucket, R.I. Two sisters, Margaret Cook of High Point, North Carolina, Mattie Simmons of Gray Court, South Carolina, and 10 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Ann and Rosetta, brothers, Zeebie and Willie James.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 3, 2012 at 11 A.M. in St. James Baptist Church, South Main St. Woonsocket. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Smithfield Rd. North Smithfield, R.I. Relatives and friends are invited; Calling hours are Thursday Evening from 5 - 7 P.M. in the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, R.I.
