BARRINGTON â Woonsocket scored one of its most satisfying victories of the season on Thursday night, rallying from an early 7-0 deficit to edge Barrington 48-43 and take over second place in Division I-North.
Kailey Fugere scored 30 points and Michelle Brayboy added 13 for the Villa Novans, who are now 9-3 and have won their last six league games. The victory avenged an early-season 51-32 loss to Barrington on Woonsocketâs home court.
Fugere added 11 rebounds and netted the decisive basket with 40 seconds left to play as Woonsocket took a 48-43 lead and then held on for the win.
âWe trailed 7-0 and had to call a timeout,â said Woonsocket coach George Coderre. âWe came back to tie the game at 10 and then we led 26-16 at halftime.â
Woonsocket will host unbeaten Bay View (12-0) on Tuesday night as part of a âWomen In Sportsâ celebration at the high school.
