Alfred Tarvis, Jr.
WOONSOCKET- Alfred Tarvis, Jr., 73, of Stoneham Drive, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of thirty-eight years of the late Rita (Bourget) Tarvis.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Alfred R. and Catherine (Biadas) Tarvis.
A Navy Veteran, Mr. Tarvis worked as a Quality Assurance Project Engineer for the Northrop-Grumman Corp., based out of Rolling Meadows, IL, retiring in 1997. He previously worked for Raytheon Corp., Waltham, MA for sixteen years. Alfred was a family man, a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, an avid motorcyclist, loved jazz music and was a drummer in the band "Sun" for twenty years. He always enjoyed and looked forward to having breakfast with the guys at McDonald's and his daughter Cheryl will dearly miss their Sunday morning breakfast at Paul's Diner.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Bressan and her husband Wayne of Woonsocket, a granddaughter, Catherine Lamoureux and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Pamela Lamoureux.
His funeral will be held, Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 9:30AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Monday from 5-8PM.
