WOONSOCKET- Alice T. (Ouellet) Lambert of Woonsocket, RI, died on February 4, 2012 in the McCarthy Care Center, Sandwich, MA. She was the wife of the late Jean-Paul Lambert for almost seventy years.
Born in Woonsocket, Alice was the daughter of the late Albert G. and Leona (Payette) Ouellet. She resided in Woonsocket for most of her life and had relocated to Cape Cod two and a half years ago, moving into the Whitehall Estates in Hyannis with her husband.
Alice held a variety of positions prior to becoming a Rhode Island state employee, working as a claims interviewer for the Department of Employment Services in Woonsocket and Providence. Upon retiring, Alice became a literacy volunteer, helping numerous adults learn to read, over a period of fifteen years. She was recognized for this work with an award from Literacy Volunteers of America.
Alice is survived by a son, Paul L. Lambert of Mashpee, MA; a daughter; Lise M. Lambert of Waquoit, MA; a granddaughter and three great granddaughters, a great grandson; two step granddaughters, one brother, Normand Ouellet of Providence, RI and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rita (Ouellet) Garneau and Lionel Ouellet.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012, beginning with visitation at 9:30AM, in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Chruch, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
The family is very grateful for the loving care provided both at the McCarthy Care Center and by all other hospice staff who cared for Alice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of gratitude be made in Alice's name to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
