WOONSOCKET- Donald J. Hutchins, 79, of Green Street, Woonsocket, passed on February 7, 2012 in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the former husband of Laurette (Dutremble) Archambault of Mapleville, RI.
Born in Providence on June 23, 1932, he was a son of the late Willard and Ethel (Haskins) Hutchins.
He worked as a machinist for many years at the Draper Company in Walpole. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Donald was an avid New York Giants fan and great supporter of all veteran's organizations. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
Donald is survived by seven children; Diane Maloney of Blackstone, MA, JoAnn Lebon of St. Augustine, FL, David Hutchins of Mountaintop, PA, Debra Chalke of St. Augustine, FL, Denise Riel of Pascoag, Leo Hutchins of Warwick, and Chrissy Shippee of Warwick, a brother; Raymond Hutchins of Cranston, four sisters; Eleanor Theberge of Warwick, Marjorie Haynes of Haines, Alaska, Arlene Shippee of Warwick, and Suzanne Benoit of Mapleville, RI, sixteen grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Willard Hutchins, Jr, Robert Hutchins, Walter Hutchins, and Roger Hutchins.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro where the Hutchins will receive friends on Friday, February 10th from 9 - 11 AM. A funeral service will be conducted in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home on Friday February 10th at 11 AM following visitation. Donald will be laid to rest with full military honors in the Rhode Island Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter.
