NORTH SMITHFIELD- Louis Anez, 97, formerly of Woonsocket and a resident of North Smithfield since 1948 passed away at the Landmark Medical Center on February 15, 2012. He was the son of Nicholas Anez and Naffe (Joseph) Anez and the brother of the late John (Jackie) Anez.
Mr. Anez is survived by his beloved wife of 74 Years, Dorothy (LeMasurier) Anez as well as son, Bruce Anez and his wife, Laura of Little Silver, New Jersey; son, Richard Anez and wife, Joyce of North Smithfield; daughter, Phyllis DeDentro and husband, Daniel of North Smithfield. Mr. Anez has a granddaughter, Susan Trombly, who lives in North Smithfield with her husband, Walter.
A graduate of Woonsocket High School, he attended the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and worked for the Navy Department in Quonset during WWII. Following the war he worked for several years as an Inventory Control Manager for an apparel manufacturer, (Finklestein's) in Woonsocket. However, most of his career was spent with the Tupperware Company in Blackstone as the Manager of their Production Control Department.
He served his community of North Smithfield in several capacities at different times: Tax Assessor, Councilman, and Democratic State Committee Representative. In addition to his public service he was well known as a mathematics tutor, an avocation he practiced for over 50 years.
Private funeral arrangements were held under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 Main Street, Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061.
