WOONSOCKET- Leon E. Robidoux, 78, of Elder Ballou Meeting House Rd., Woonsocket, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Trinity Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Aline S. (Boucher) Robidoux for more than fifty-four years.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Exodus and Armande (Leguillou) Robidoux.
Leon served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, during the Korean War. He worked at Whitin Machine Works as a Quality Control Manager until 1993 and at H&H Screw in Quality Control before retiring in 1999. He was a coach in the East Woonsocket Little League for eight years, was a member of the St. Joseph's Veteran's Association and a member of the Woonsocket Senior Citizens Center. Leon enjoyed bowling, pool, cribbage and pinochle. In 1981 his life changed when grandchildren began arriving. They became his favorite pastime. From babysitting in the early years to attending every event, game, activity they were involved in, his grandchildren were his passion.
He was a loving father and grandfather (Pep) and besides his wife, is survived by son, Ronald Robidoux of Woonsocket, daughter Denise Richardson and her husband Michael of Woonsocket, son Adrien Robidoux and his wife Roberta of Burriville, four grandchildren, Matthew, Dawn, Stacy and Chelsea and two great-grandchildren, Jalyn and Brett, Jr. He is also survived by two sisters, Vivian (Robidoux) Archambault, Estelle (Robidoux) Legare and the late Louella (Robidoux) Horent, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 with a service at 1PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, S. W., Lilburn, GA 30047
