UXBRIDGE- Celeste I. (Filion) Cardin, 47, died Tues. Feb. 21, 2012 in Brigham & Womens Hospital, Boston surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of David M. Cardin.
Mrs. Cardin was a Para Professional for 11 years in the Uxbridge Public School System working with special needs students and young adults at both Whitin Middle School and the Independence Project. Celeste had previously worked at Fr. Marot CYO Center in Woonsocket, RI.
Celeste was born May 9, 1964 in Woonsocket, RI the daughter of Pauline O. (Laferriere) Filion of Manville, RI and the late Paul R. Filion. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Lincoln, RI Class of 1982 and took advanced courses for certification for her work.
Mr. and Mrs. Cardin observed their 22nd wedding anniversary in May 2011.
Mrs. Cardin loved music and sang in the choir of St. James Church in Manville, RI. She volunteered with the Boy Scouts and St. Mary's Parish in Uxbridge. She loved to read. Celeste was a loving wife and mother to her family.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by one son; Daniel D. Cardin of Uxbridge, one daughter; Emilie A. Cardin of Brooklyn, NY, four brothers; Richard Filion of Pawtucket, RI, Roland Filion and Luc Filion, both of Manville, RI and Albert Filion of Warwick, RI, five sisters; Diane Waldron of Lincoln, RI, Denise Carroll of Providence, RI, Monique Bilodeau of Sutton, MA, Lise Reichard of Derry, NH, Nicole DeMayo of Sugar Hill, NH and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. Feb. 25, 2012 at 10 AM from the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 North Main St. (Rt. 122), Uxbridge, 01569 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Marys Church, Mendon St. (Rt. 16), Uxbridge.
Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Granite St. Uxbridge.
Visiting hours will be held Fri. Feb. 24, 2012 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
