Loretta Zarzycki

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Loretta "Lori" (Leblanc) Zarzycki, 94, of Mendon Road, North Smithfield, died Monday, February 27, 2012 in the Ste. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. She was the devoted wife to her husband of 45 years, Stanley J. Zarzycki, who died in 1985.
She lived in the house in which she was born on Huntington Avenue, in Woonsocket all of her life until recently moving to Gatewood Apartments in North Smithfield, RI.
She was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Lucie (Coulomb) Leblanc.
Lori, as she was known to her family and friends, was an Inspector first for J.B. Cohen's and then for U.S. Rubber until her vision failed her in 1960 and she was forced to retire from the workforce. But she did not retire from life. She was a founding member of the RSVP Chorale and a former member of the Our Lady of Victories Ladies' Sodality. She was a born traveler and was most happy when packing and repacking in anticipation of a land vacation or cruise. Though legally blind much of her life she enjoyed over 80 cruises, the most memorable being an all expenses paid cruise won while playing bingo, and a cruise on the largest luxury liner in the world - the RCL Allure - last September. Her final cruise was a family affair this past Thanksgiving week. She had a quick wit and could find something humorous in just about any situation. She would go anywhere and try anything. Her tenets to live by include: Laughter makes everyone feel good; Never take yourself too seriously; and Life is not a spectator sport.
She is survived by three people who were her best friends and protectors: daughter Jo-Ann Fielding and her husband Philip of North Smithfield, and Beverly Zarzycki of Bullhead City, AZ. She was very proud of her three grandchildren, Patrick, Deborah and Michael Kelley, all of California. She also leaves her two favorite cruise buddies and loyal friends til the end, Joyce Anez of North Smithfield and Nancy Hendrickson of Woonsocket, as well as John and Lisa Reed of Somerset, MA. She was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Fedyszyn and Alice Guilmain.
Her funeral will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Paul's Church, 48 St. Paul Street, Blackstone, MA. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm Street, Blackstone, MA. The family invites those that knew and loved Lori to remember her and the joyous life she led during calling hours on Thursday from 4 - 7 PM in the funeral home.
