MANVILLE- Roger Valois, 83, of Central Street, died Tuesday, February 28, at home. He was the husband of Estelle (Cartier) Valois.
Born in the Manville village of Lincoln, a son of the late Joseph and Blandine (Valois) Valois, he was a lifelong resident of the village.
Mr. Valois was a mechanical contractor for Manville Mechanical Services, retiring in 2009.
He was a former State Representative for District 58-Lincoln/Smithfield, and a former Lincoln Town Councilor for District 5-Manville. He was a Volunteer and former Fire Warden of the Manville Fire Department; he was a member of the Manville Sportsmen's Club, a member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E., and a member, and Past-President of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, and a communicant of St. James Church, Manville.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Denise Plante, Madeleine Pierson, and Claudette Valois, all of Manville, Judith Perron of Smithfield, and Jacqueline Wiebe of Alberta, Canada; four sons, Marcel Valois and David Valois, both of East Greenwich, Jean-Paul Valois and Daniel Valois, both of Manville; one sister, Ruth Valois of Manville; one brother, Louis Valois of Narragansett; nineteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Pauline Picard and Edouard Valois, and the grandfather of the late Nicolas Valois.
His funeral will be held Saturday, March 3 at 8:45 a.m. from BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. James Cemetery, Manville.
