BURRILLVILLE- Clarence "Babe" Nydam, 73, died Friday, March 9, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Whitinsville, Mass., he was the son of the late John and Clara (Visser) Nydam.
Babe spent his high school years in Cranston, R.I., where he was an all-state football player and met his wife, Barbara (Etter) Nydam, of Glendale.
Babe worked for Federated Lithographers-Printers Inc. in Providence, R.I. as a lithographer for the duration of his 37-year career. He started as a janitor and worked his way to vice-president of manufacturing and plant manager before retiring in 1993.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Kerry Jardot of Virginia Beach, Va., Susan Moore of Nasonville, Elizabeth Rabideau of Pascoag, and Nancy Nydam of Plainville, Mass. He also leaves one sister, Dorothy Adams of Florida, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was the brother of the late William Nydam, John Nydam, Harriet Cowell, and Marian Waddington.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, March 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave., Pascoag. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, 1801 Willamette Street, Suite 200, Eugene, OR, 97401.
