LINCOLN- Robert D. "Boomer" Gouin, 89, of Old River Road, Manville died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Claire (Allard) Gouin.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Denis and Melinda (Heroux) Gouin, he had lived in Manville for the past 45 years.
Mr. Gouin was the owner of Denis Market, Manville for 62 years before retiring. He was a member of the Independent Grocers Association.
He was a communicant of St. James Church, Manville and a member of the Manville Rod & Gun Club. He also was a long-time member of the Abbott Run Valley Club, Cumberland.
Mr. Gouin was a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Louise E. Wearmouth of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands; three sons, Dr. Bruce D. Gouin of Charlestown, Philip R. Gouin of Cumberland and Charles E. "Rex" Gouin of Manville; one sister, Madeleine Ryan of Chepachet; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held MONDAY, MARCH 19 at 8:30 A.M. from BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Burial will be private.
