CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y.- Jane Wylie (Seagrave) Cote, 83, passed away on March 18, 2012 in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
Born in Wakefield, R.I., she was a resident of Woonsocket and North Smithfield for most of her life, moving to the Buffalo, NY area to reside with her daughter Marilyn in 2004.
She was a daughter of the late Raymond F. and Harriet (Wylie) Seagrave.
She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Robert E. Cote, her sisters Frances and Joan and her brothers Raymond, Jr. and Alan.
She was a 1946 graduate of Woonsocket High School and graduated from Roger Williams School of Nursing School as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Cote worked in the former Woonsocket and Fogarty hospitals and was Director of Nurses at the Friendly Nursing Home in North Smithfield for 13 years. Mrs. Cote was one of the first women ham radio operators in Rhode Island with a General Class license and was known by the call letters K1OHD, which she nicknamed "old hound dog."
She is survived by her 6 children, Marilyn (Robert) Cote-Miller of North Tonawanda, NY; James (Deborah) of Woonsocket; Louise (Kelly) Holliday of Oakdale; Mary (Kenneth) Buetow of Woonsocket; Michael (Jacqueline) of Austin, T.X.; and Laura Blanchard of Virginia Beach, V.A. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great-children.
Services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11 am in the State of Rhode Island Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, Rhode Island.
