WEST MELBOURNE FLORIDA- Christie Petrides, 84, formerly of Woonsocket RI died February 6, 2012 at home. He was the beloved brother of Elise Petrides.
Born of immigrant Albanian parents (Sophie and Steve) on January 27, 1928 (at 510 East School Street, Woonsocket).
Chris excelled in physics and mathematics at Woonsocket High School.
Chris served in the US Army in the occupation of Japan in 1946. His Uncle Sam sent him to the University of Rhode Island where Chris graduated with a degree in electrical engineering.
His distinguished engineering career (with General Electric and Black & Decker) spanned 51 years and included multiple US patents on important technological advancements in the development of household appliances in the second half of the 20th century.
He is survived by a son, daughter, and 3 grandchildren. His ashes will be buried at Pascoag Cemetery on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at 1PM.
