BELLINGHAM- Robert F. "Fred" Martel, Jr., 46, of Bellingham, MA passed away unexpectedly after being stricken while at work on Thursday, March 29, 2012.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on July 20, 1965, he was the beloved son of Marjorie E. (Alward) Martel of Bellingham, MA and the late Robert F. Martel.
He was the loving brother of Earl Murray of Blackstone, MA, Charles Murray and his wife, Karen of North Smithfield, RI, Robin Martel of Woonsocket, RI, Kathleen Mercure and her late husband, David of Woonsocket, RI, the late Ingrid Martel, Verna Potter and her husband, Jay of Woonsocket, RI and Richard Martel of Georgia. He leaves his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
He was a lifelong resident of Bellingham and graduate of Bellingham High School Class of 1983. Fred was employed at Technic Inc. in Woonsocket as a Technimask Lead Operator for the past 8 years and previously employed at Lyons Coating in Franklin as a chemical compounder for 13 years.
At a young age he became a self-taught recreational drummer, he had a great passion for music especially the Beatles. He was a boy scout and enjoyed karate. You could often find Fred at home cooking and gardening. His smile and laughter were contagious, and he often shared that with others in a joke. Fred was a loving son and constant caretaker for his mother. He will be sadly missed, but always remembered.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd at 10:00AM at CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with Pastor Randy Lewis Officiating. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Monday, April 2nd from 5 to 8PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
