PAWTUCKET â Rich Hill will take another important step in his rehab Saturday when the lefthander pitches in relief for the Pawtucket Red Sox.
âIâll pitch an inning (Saturday) and another inning Sunday,â Hill noted following Fridayâs 15-10 win against Durham.
Pitching on consecutive days represents the next hurdle for Hill, who is not even a year out from undergoing Tommy John surgery. The 32-year-old passed his tests with Single-A Greenville and Salem, totaling six innings over five appearances.
âI think you just go with the way your body responds. Everything has been great and Iâve thrown the ball well,â Hill said. âEverythingâs healthy and ready to go.â
Officially Hillâs 30-day rehab clock started on April 7. That leaves the southpaw a little more than two weeks time before the Red Sox must act on him.
