BURRILLVILLE- Alfred Cournoyer, 83, died Friday, April 27, 2012 in Bayberry Commons, Pascoag. He was the husband of Lillian (Choquette) Cournoyer of Pascoag, whom he married on May 30, 1950.
Born in Slatersville, he was the son of the late Nazaire and Eva (Guertin) Cournoyer.
Alfred worked as a Caster at American Standard of Wauregan, CT for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of VFW Post in Florida and of Pascoag Knights of Columbus. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Marine Corps and was a Veteran of the Korean War.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Wayne A. Cournoyer of Harrisville and Richard R. Cournoyer of Denver, CO, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lawrence, William and Nazaire Cournoyer and Florence McGlaughlin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 11 AM in St. John The Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Burial will immediately follow in the Parish Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave. Pascoag. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to: Warrior/Family Support Fund, Walter Reed Society, 890 Wisconsin Ave. #303, Bethesda, MD 20889-5600.
