WOONSOCKET- Carmelo "Babe" Lemme, Cam passed away on March 26, 2012 At the Trinity Health & Rehabilitation Ctr. In Woonsocket of Pneumonia, "Babe", as he was known to his friends was a well known Woonsocket citizen.
He was born on July 12, 1929, son of the late Peter & Mary (Petraca) Lemme.
He resided in Woonsocket all his life. While serving in the ARMY National Guard, he attained the rank of Master SGT, (E7) in Company B, 118th Engineer Battalion.
He was the last surviving member of his family. Cam leaves 2 sons, Antonio of Cape Cod and Ronnie, with which he shared his life with.
Cam was the Founder & President of the Woonsocket Citizens Task Force against Drug Abuse. During his working career, Babe had many successful businesses in the Woonsocket area, his last one was Lemme's Used Furniture Store, which his son Ronald worked with him. He and Ronnie would frequent at many Flea Markets, while Cam, the successful business man he was, was known to be a great negotiator. In respect to Babe's request, Visitation hours were omitted, his Funeral & Burial will be Private. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
