Arthur J. Lecuivre
WOONSOCKET- Arthur J. Lecuivre, 90, of Paradis Avenue, Woonsocket, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012. He was the husband of the late Virginia A. (Shea) Lecuivre who were blessed with 50 years of marriage.
Born in Woonsocket he was the son of the late Vital Lecuivre and Irma (Senn) Lecuivre. Arthur was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Lecuivre attended Woonsocket High School, graduated from Hill College (accounting), worked for UniRoyal for 33 years, worked for OIC of RI and retired from Roger Williams Hospital in 1987. Arthur had a fulfilled 25 years of retirement life.
He was a member of the Woonsocket's Musician Union for 60 years serving as Treasurer for many of those years. Arthur played with the Paul Kazanowski Trio, who were known as the only strolling musicians in the area. He volunteered at hospitals and homes for the elderly on holidays and special events to entertain children and adults.
Mr. Lecuivre was an avid bowler, bowling up until February of this year. The people he met through his bowling leagues were very special to him. He also enjoyed golf - making the 1st hole-in-one at the 9th hole at Woonsocket Country Club in So. Bellingham, MA in 1947 (now known as the N.E. Country Club).
Arthur is survived by one son, John D. Lecuivre, of Albion, three daughters, Patricia E. Dubois and her husband Roger of No. Smithfield, Susan A. Rennie of Woonsocket, and Judith M. Lecuivre and her husband Paul of Pascoag. Six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Gilbert and Paul Lecuivre and father-in-law of the late Veronica R. (Girard) Lecuivre. He also leaves his good friend and companion of 18 years, Eva O'Connor.
His funeral will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Avenue, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Sunday from 2 - 5 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local American Heart Association office or local animal shelter.
