DOUGLAS- Florence C. (Hansen) Seagrave Neely, 91, of Douglas died Sunday May 6, 2012 in the Madonna Manor, North Attleboro. She was the wife of the late George R. Neely who died in 2002. Her former husband was George A. Seagrave, Jr. who died in 2005.
She was employed in the reprographic department of the Morgan Construction Company in Worcester for 19 years before retiring in 1985. During WWII, Florence worked at her mother-in-laws photography studio in Uxbridge, MA.
Mrs. Neely was born June 25, 1920 in Millville to John and Louisa (Olsen) Hansen. She graduated in 1937 from Blackstone High School. Mrs. Neely was a member of the First Congregational Church in Douglas, and had been a resident of Douglas since 1955.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, reading, basket making, painting and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Mrs. Neely is survived by one son John Seagrave and his wife Donna of N. Attleboro; two daughters, Barbara (Seagrave) Nielsen and her partner Caryn Leistner of Woodbury, VT and Diane (Seagrave) Poplawski of Douglas, MA; 6 grandchildren, Cora Kelly and her husband Josh of VT, Ingrid Nielsen of VT, Christina Nielsen and her fianc Darren Campbell of Boston, MA, Benjamin Seagrave of N. Attleboro, MA, Anna Seagrave and her fianc Luke Selden of Providence, RI, Sarah Seagrave and her husband Alex of N. Attleboro, MA; 1 great-granddaughter Zelda Mae Seagrave of N. Attleboro, MA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Bertha Anderson, Judith Brodd and Louise Keith and a son-in-law Frank Poplawski, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Thurs., May 10, 2012 at 11 AM in the Buma Funeral Home, 101 North Main St. (Rte. 122), Uxbridge 01569.
Interment will follow in the Norden Cemetery, Millville.
Visiting hours will be Thursday from 10-11 AM, prior to the service in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Uxbridge Historic Cemetery Committee Town Hall, c/o Town of Uxbridge Cemetery Donations Fund, 21 South Main, Uxbridge, MA 01569.
