OAKLAND, CA- Eugene H. Farland, 93, Oakland, CA passed away on April 19, 2012.
Born in Woonsocket of the late Joseph and Alma (Cayer) Farland.
He was an Insurance Agent in Woonsocket 1946 to 1955, Air Traffic Controller and Bush Pilot in Nome, Alaska until 1966, Educator at Community College of San Fransisco, Ingeological Studies, and Flight Instructor from 1966-1984, Past President of The Kiwanis Club, Assistant Chair of Red Cross Drive and Counselor at the YMCA in Woonsocket. He was in the Air Force in WWII, Pilot of B-17, Recipient of Presidential Citation and Air Medal with star.
He has a sister Alice Laferriere of Woonsocket a son Julian Farland of Lexington, MA, a stepson Tala Atalane of Oakland, CA. He was predeceased by one daughter Linda, three brothers Edgar, Raymond and Albert Farland, 2 sisters Rena Marcel and Edna Aubin.
He will be sadly missed by Gerry and Donna Lee Farland of North Attleboro, MA.
A Graveside Service will be held on Sat., May 12 at 9:00 AM at Precious Blood Cemetery Rathburn St., Woonsocket, In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Paralyzed Veteran's, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 03086.
