Russell A. Jones
Russell A. Jones
LEHIGH ACRES, FLORIDA- Russell A. Jones, 73, of Lehigh Acres, Florida passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 with his loving family by his side.
He was born September 17, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Thomas and Mary Ann (MacDougall) Jones and was the proud stepson of Eugene Walton.
During his work life, Russell was fortunate to have a number of careers that were as varied as the people he touched along the way. After completing duty in the U.S. Air Force, Russell became an Assistant Director in television advertising, later forming his own production company and becoming a member of the Directors Guild of America. Along the way, he served as a Volunteer for the Irvington, New York Fire Department and was affiliated with the Modern Woodmen of America. Russell enjoyed people and those who knew him were luckier for the experience. In that sense, it only seems fitting that Russells final job was providing security at the Seminole Casino in Immokalee.
Russell was a lifelong, avid fan of the Red Sox and all Boston sports teams. He also enjoyed hobbies such as collecting coins and was frequently seen playing the game of golf.
Russell leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 51 years Caroline (Smith) Jones; a son Russell G. and daughter-in-law Julee Jones of Sandgate, Vermont; a daughter Dorothy A. and son-in-law Felix A. Reed of Lehigh Acres; four granddaughters and a step granddaughter.
Russell was a resident of Lehigh Acres for the past 12 years and has numerous neighbors, co-workers and friends among the people he loved dearly. All are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering in his honor at First Baptist Church of Lehigh Acres, 507 North Sunshine Boulevard from 5-6 PM on Monday, May 21, 2012. Pastor Stephen Bowe will then celebrate a Memorial Service beginning at 6 PM and the United States Air Force will conduct military honors immediately following the service.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson-Patterson Cremation and Funeral Services, 2701 Lee Boulevard, Lehigh Acres, Florida 33971, (239) 368-7080. Those who wish to offer condolences to the family at this difficult time should visit Russell's memorial webpage on the funeral home website at
