Besides talking about his childhood friend and current Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks in a piece that ran in Monday’s edition (here it is in case you missed it: http://www.woonsocketcall.com/node/5302), Patriots third-string quarterback Ryan Mallett weighed in about a few pigskin-related topics.
On what Mallett’s offseason dance card consisted of leading up to the start of Organized Team Activities:
Ryan Mallett: “I’m just going to work every day and grind as hard as I can and see where it takes me.”
On the group of wide receivers the Patriots acquired via free agency:
RM: “Just whatever the coaches deem is necessary for us to have a chance to win is fine with me. Bringing in new guys is cool. It happens every year, but we’ve got to see what they [new pass-catching options] are going to do now.”
On how Mallett’s mindset has changed now that he’s no longer considered a rookie:
RM: “I’ve just got to be ready and always know what’s going on. From year one to year two, it’s a big jump as far as knowing what to do and not making as many mistakes. That’s why I’m looking forward to getting back on the field.”
