Roland J. "Uncle Ben" Benoit, 87, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband for 53 years of Jeanne M. (D'Arc) Benoit.
Born in Woonsocket on December 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Cecilia (Roberge) Benoit.
He was the brother of Armand Benoit and his wife, Lucille of Hemet, CA, and the late Rene Benoit. He leaves his many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and his special little friend Dylan.
A resident of Bellingham for 50 years, formerly of Woonsocket where he was raised and attended school, "Ben" worked as a shipping foreman for North American Textile of Norwood, MA for 20 years until retiring and previously worked at the Belmont Company and Hanora Spinning both of Woonsocket. He enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, fishing, gardening and working in his yard. Mr. & Mrs. Benoit enjoyed Polka dancing and were formerly members of the Polish Citizens Club of Webster, MA.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
Funeral will be held on Friday, June 15th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Theresa Church, 630 Rathbun St., Blackstone, MA. Interment will follow at the Scott Cemetery, Center St., Bellingham. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations sent to St. Theresa Church, 630 Rathbun St., Blackstone, MA 01504 would be appreciated.
