The swans are back

June 21, 2012

Mayor Donald R. Grebien, right, gets some help from City Councilor Christopher O'Neill, who represents District 3 where Slater Park is located, in christening one of several new paddleboats on Thursday. The boats will return to the park's Slater Pond on Saturday after a lapse of nearly a half-century. In lieu of champagne, a pink-ribboned bottle of spring water did the honors. The paddleboats, three of which are designed as swans, will be available at the boathouse from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through September. After Labor Day, the paddleboats will be available on weekends. At left is Brian Lally, co-owner of F & L Legacy Boating of Pawtucket, owners of the paddleboats.
