Panel gives first nod to budget

June 21, 2012

WOONSOCKET — The state-appointed Budget Commission running city finances granted first approval of the city's proposed $122 million budget for 2012-2013 even while conceding that figure does not appear to contain enough funding for local schools.
The commission will take up the proposal again next Thursday for second and final passage and its members voiced a hope that city and school officials will be able to improve the budget's accuracy by that time.
