MECHANICSBURG, PA- Raymond Henry Barrie, 90, of Mechanicsburg, PA, formerly of Woonsocket, R. I. passed away peacefully on June 25, 2012, at Lebanon VA Medical Center.
He was born on September 16, 1921, in Woonsocket, R. I. to the late Amasa and Georgiana (Petrin) Barrie.
He retired from Quincy Dye, in Woonsocket, R.I. as a cloth inspector. He was a former member of Saint Katherine Drexel Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, American Legion, VFW, and Schaner Senior Citizen Center. His passions included history, trains, western movies, and playing on the billiard league at the center.
He was the widower of Eva Chapdelaine Barrie who passed away in 2009. He is survived by a daughter and her husband Debra E. and Daniel D. Newcomer of Mechanicsburg; a son and his wife, Daniel G. and Elaine Barrie of Pembroke, MA; a sister-in-law and niece Olivette and Sue Godin; a sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Robert Vincent of Navarre, Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law Loretta and Robert Auger of Woonsocket, R.I; a sister-in-law Jeanette of Woonsocket, R.I; a nephew and wife, Lionel and Sandy Godin of Blackstone, MA; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July, 9, 2012, at Saint Katherine Drexel Church, 1 Peter Drive, Mechancisburg. Committal services with full military honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover, Twp. A luncheon will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Club, Fort Indiantown Gap.
