C.F. man burned in Lincoln garage fire

June 29, 2012

LINCOLN – A gasoline explosion is believed to have caused injuries suffered by a 62-year-old Central Falls man and damaged a home at 22 Arch St. Thursday evening.
Patrolman Jason Bolduc found the victim, Harold Trazi, being assisted to by members of Rescue 4 when he arrived at the scene. Trazi suffered burns to his chest, arms and face from a fire believed to have started in the garage of the dwelling, Bolduc reported.
The victim had been working on his motorcycle inside the garage and attempted to start the motor while standing next to it, Bolduc said. It backfired and quickly became engulfed in flames.
The victim then tried to drag the burning motorcycle out of the garage but was forced away by the heat of the flames spreading to the residence, according to Bolduc.
Trazi was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for treatment of second- and third-degree burns.
A neighbor told Bolduc that she had heard a loud bang as she was getting into her vehicle and saw Trazi outside the burning building appearing to be in shock. The owner of the home, Randy Walker, arrived at the property during the effort to extinguish the fire and told emergency personnel that Trazi routinely works on the motorcycle in the garage, where it was stored.
The State Fire Marshal's office and the Town Building Inspector responded to investigate the cause and the extent of the damage, according to police.
Members of the Saylesville and Limerock fire districts responded to the call along with other town emergency and mutual aid units.
