WOONSOCKET- M. Alice (Kane) Callanan, 91, of Woonsocket, died July 3, 2012 in Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence, surrounded by her family. Her heart eternally belonged to her late husband, William F. Callanan.
Born in Acushnet, MA, she was the devoted daughter of the late James L. and Marguerite E. (Lannon) Kane.
Mrs. Callanan was an administrative assistant at the Woonsocket Institute for Savings for 20 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Charles Church.
She leaves her son, William K. Callanan and his wife Diane of Burrillville; two daughters, Margaret C. Benevides and her husband Michael of Northport, FL and Katharine C. Burns and her husband Timothy of Woonsocket; a brother, James L. Kane of No. Smithfield; a sister, Teresa H. Chartier of No. Smithfield; six grandchildren, Kailin and Timothy Burns, Michael and Matthew Benevides and Emily and Patrick Callanan. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and William Kane.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Charles Church, 190 No. Main St. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
