BLACKSTONE- Gertrude C. (Bergeron) Martinelli, 79, of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 5, 2012 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife for 60 years of Leo H. Martinelli.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on February 28, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Alice (Antaya) Bergeron.
She was the loving mother of Leo H. Martinelli, Jr. and his wife, Christine of Blackstone, MA, Richard J. Martinelli and his wife, Rita of Bellingham, MA, Marie Rose Martinelli of Blackstone; and her cherished grandchildren, Roland Martinelli and his wife, Jennifer, Sandra Babineau, Jessica Cote, Stephanie Martinelli, Stacy Cote, Leo R. Martinelli; and great-grandchildren, Mariah Munro and Dominic Martinelli. She was the sister of William Bergeron and Loretta Parent both of Woonsocket, RI and the late Edward Bergeron.
A resident of Blackstone for 60 years formerly of Slatersville, RI, and from 1965-1993, with her husband, Leo owner of Martinelli Oil, she was the Home Secretary for the business. She also worked as a factory worker at Finklestein's and Hanora Mills in Woonsocket, and also at Penthouse Sales in Franklin, MA until she had a heart attack in 1979. She then became a volunteer worker at the St. Theresa's Bingo in Blackstone, MA and also at Mount St. Rita's in Cumberland, RI as a caregiver. She also made many crocheted goods for the school children in Kingman, ME. She was a communicant of St. Theresa Church, Blackstone, MA. Loved by her family and friends, she will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Monday, July 9th, at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Theresa Church, 630 Rathbun St., Blackstone, MA. Interment will follow at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Slatersville, RI. Visiting hours are on Sunday, July 8th from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
