Roof collapses on old Woonsocket mill building

WOONSOCKET — One of the oldest surviving examples of a fieldstone mill in the city will be at least partially torn down after an apparent roof collapse at the 781 Social St. structure Monday night, officials say.
The roof line of the four-story circa-1828 mill was reported to have collapsed downward into the building and created a risk of further collapse of the supporting walls of its east side along the Peters River.
