James H. Emidy, Jr.

PALM BAY, FL- James H. Emidy, Jr., 81, of Palm Bay, FL passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 at South County Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband for 59 years of Jacqueline (Gelinas) Emidy. Born in Woonsocket, RI on December 20, 1930, he was the son of the late James H. and Edith (Downey) Emidy, Sr. He was the loving father of Theodore Emidy and James H. Emidy, III both of Palm Bay, FL, Thomas Emidy of Bellingham, MA, John Emidy and his wife, Cynthia of Blackstone, MA, Michelle Defond and her husband, Robert of Bellingham, MA, Joseph Emidy of Blackstone, MA, Denise O'Donnell and her husband, David of Blackstone, MA and Dennis Emidy of Winthrop, ME. He also leaves his cherished 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A resident of Palm Bay, FL for 23 years and summer residence in Matunuck, RI, formerly of Blackstone, MA. James was a teacher and school administrator for the Town of Cumberland for 28 years until retiring in 1987. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Korean War attaining the rank of Corporal. Devoted to his family and he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 31st at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Paul's Church, 48 St. Paul Street, Blackstone, MA. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham.
Visiting hours are on Monday, July 30th from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
