Route 146A to get major overhaul

NORTH SMITHFIELD — A mile-long stretch of Route 146A in North Smithfield known as Eddie Dowling Highway will get some major and much-needed repairs before the end of the year, Town Administrator Paulette D. Hamilton said this week.
Sections of Eddie Dowling Highway, particularly from the Park Avenue intersection to the entrance of Dowling Village — which is undergoing its second and third phases of construction by Bucci Development — have been in a state of disrepair for years. On On Monday, Hamilton said the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (DOT) has prioritized the project, which will include resurfacing the highway from the Park Avenue intersection to the Dowling Village entrance and improving the median.
