NORTH SMITHFIELD — The North Smithfield Police Department announced that it has launched a new telephone “tip line” for residents to call anonymously with information to help solve crimes.
Effective immediately, the number is 401-762-9983, the police said in a statement. The tip line can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“The purpose of this line is to allow any member of the public who wishes to remain anonymous to call this number to report criminal activity or any suspicious activity that is occurring ...” the statement says.
The police urge all citizens to be aware of their surroundings and try to take not of anything suspicious happening in their neighborhoods.
They recommend that all residents to secure there homes when they’re not on the premises, leave lights on and lock vehicles left out overnight.
