WOONSOCKET â€“ Mayor Leo T. Fontaine has gotten the Budget Commissionâ€™s OK to negotiate the sale of thousands of surplus trash bins, but it turns out he doesnâ€™t have as much bargaining leverage as he hoped.
The bins are so awkwardly bulky, and there are so many of them â€” over 10,000 in all â€” that it would be a logistical nightmare to transport them very far, says Fontaine.
Translation: Theyâ€™re almost certainly heading for the neighboring town of Cumberland.
