LINCOLN- Roger "Owen" McNamara, 81, of Lincoln, formerly of Herkimer, NY, died August 22, 2012 in the St. Camillus Health Center, Northbridge.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Timothy and Helen F. (Collins) McNamara.
Owen was a 1955 graduate of Boston University and a 1958 graduate of Kent State. He was an English professor for 30 years at Herkimer County Community College, retiring in 1994. Owen traveled extensively and was an avid biker and runner.
He leaves two sisters, Jane Gilmore of Uxbridge, MA and Helen Hession of Vero Beach FL and West Harwich, MA and several nephews and nieces. His sister, Mary E. McNamara, predeceased him in 1958.
His funeral will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Augustine's Church, 17 Lincoln St., Millville, MA. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ryan Harvey Foundation for Children with Brain Tumors, P.O. Box 6823, Holliston, MA 01746.
