Meet the Candidates

August 27, 2012

WOONSOCKET — If you want to find out where state lawmakers and the folks trying to unseat them stand on the issues, don’t forget Tuesday night’s candidates forum at Chan’s Fine Oriental Dining.
“Meet the Candidates” features contenders for state representative and senate, answering questions posed to them by local journalists. The event is co-sponsored by MyWoonsocket.com and radio station WNRI (1380-AM). Lorraine Corey, who runs the online site for local news, will host the event, while Roger Bouchard, general manager of the radio station, will serve as moderator. Robert Borkowski of Woonsocket Patch, Sandy Phaneuf of The Valley Breeze and Russ Olivo of The Call will take turns asking questions.
There are four contested races in the 2012 election cycle, including two that will be decided in the primary on Sept. 11. Those include the contests between incumbent Senator Marc A. Cote, seeking his 10th term, and challenger Lewis J. Pryeor in Senate District 24, and incumbent State Rep. Jon D. Brien versus Stephen M. Casey, a firefighter, in District 50. All are Democrats.
