WOONSOCKET- Lucien A. Dansereau, 87, of Mendon Rd., died peacefully on August 29, 2012 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Doris (Brissette) Dansereau of Woonsocket, whom he married May 21, 1949.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Henri and Matilde (Lapierre) Dansereau.
A WWII Medic Army Veteran, Lucien worked as a union carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters for forty years. He was an avid golfer, bowler, enjoyed travelling and making puzzles. A strong man with a passion for living, he will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his wife, he is survived by and was the father of five children; Paul Dansereau and his wife Janet of Saunderstown, Louise Boucher and her husband Hank of No. Smithfield, Ann Trace and her husband Jim of Tuscon, AZ, Muriel Desmarais and her husband Armand of Woonsocket and Denise Piette and her husband Gerry of Cumberland; a sister; Terry Blais of California; eight grandchildren and one great grandson. He was the brother of the late Conrad, Gus, Leo and Victor Dansereau, Yvonne Barras and Hortense Berard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 10:30AM in St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 - 7PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the RI DAV, 380 Westminster St., Providence, RI 02903.
