CUMBERLAND — Town residents Jocelyn Bodington, Daniel Collard, and Adam Vartanian each took home state titles in the 2012 Pitch, Hit & Run competition during a recent on-field pre-game awards ceremony at McCoy Stadium.
Bodington was the Best All-Around State Champion for the 11-12 year old division; Collard was the Pitching champion for the 11-12 year old division; and Vartanian was the Best All-Around State Champion for the 7-8 year old division.
Hosted by Dunkin’ Donuts, the Pawtucket Red Sox, and CW 28, Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball.
The program provides boys and girls across the country, ages 7-14, with the opportunity to participate in an exciting baseball skills competition, showcasing their pitching, hitting and running abilities.
Competitions were held throughout the state in the spring, and an All-Around Champion, a Pitching Champion, a Hitting Champion, and a Running Champion in each age group (7-8, 9-10, 11-12 & 13-14) was named. Winners advanced to the Sectional Championship at McCoy Stadium.
