Rebuilding Main Street

September 17, 2012

WOONSOCKET – There may be no place in the city where the sobering legacy of recession and cuts in government aid is revealed so plainly as Main Street.
From vacant storefronts to boarded-up mills where lofty rehab projects were stopped cold, Main Street is in a kind of deep economic sleep, waiting for something to wake it back to life.
Now there’s something you can do to help: Just show up for a special planning workshop tomorrow night – and bring your imagination.
“We hope this workshop will energize people into imagining what can be possible for Main Street,” says City Planner Jennifer Siciliano. “It could be a lively, vibrant place.”
Fittingly, the event is called the Imagine Woonsocket Main Street Workshop. It begins at 6 p.m. at RiverzEdge Arts, 68 Main St.
