WOONSOCKET- Rose Alma Ethier, 86, died in the company of loved ones on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in St. Antoine Residence, No. Smithfield.
Born in Millville, MA, she was the daughter of the late Mederic and Cora (Gagnon) Ethier, and has been a Woonsocket resident since 1956.
Rose Alma had been employed as a cutter for the former Narragansett Knitting Company for many years, retiring in 1994. After her retirement, she continued to find joy in sewing for her family, decorating her church, knitting, cooking, playing cards and playing her organ. She spent her life devotionally alongside her loving twin sister Rose Anna. She also took great joy in her many nephews and nieces.
She is survived by a brother, Romeo Ethier of Millville; a sister, Jeannette Lavallee of West Wareham; her twin sister, Rose Anna Ethier of No. Smithfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Lionel, Emile, Normand, Ernest, Paul, and Alfred Ethier, and sisters Gertrude Cournoyer and Rita Salois.
Her funeral will be held Monday Sep. 24, 2012 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 AM in Precious Blood, Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours will be Sunday Sep. 23, 2012 from 4 to 7PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to St. Antoine Residence, 10 Rhodes Ave., No. Smithfield, RI 02869.
