WOONSOCKET- Lionel J. Lajoie 79, resident of Woonsocket, passed away September 22, 2012 at Landmark Medical Center.
He was the husband of the late Violet (Tancrede) Lajoie.
He was born in Salem, MA, a son of the late Lionel & Lucia (Brunet) Lajoie.
Lionel was a truck driver for the Interstate Towing Co. also he worked part time for the New England Country Club. He was a veteran of Korea; he was one of the last salvage divers in RI from the war.
He is survived by his son, Robert L. Lajoie of Danielson CT, two stepsons, Mark and Joseph Desrosiers, brother, Henry E. Lajoie of Leesburg FL. He is also survived by two grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Rena Champagne.
A funeral service will be held Friday evening at 8PM in the Egidio DiPardo & Sons Funeral Home 75 Harris Ave. Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will be held privately in RI Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 7-9PM.
