Wal-Mart: No decision on our Woonsocket plans

WOONSOCKET — City residents should not get their hopes too high for the return of a Wal-Mart store to Diamond Hill Road — at least not for now.
A Wal-Mart spokesman on Thursday said no decision has been made regarding the company's former store at Diamond Hill Road and the future use of the site is still under review.
“We haven’t made up our minds one way or another what we are going to do with that building,” Christopher N. Buchanan, director of public affairs and government relations said of published reports that Wal-Mart is seeking bids for construction of a new Wal-Mart Superstore at the site.
Buchanan said Wal-Mart does own the former store site, and added that it is not currently being marketed.
But as for whether the company has plans locally, he said, “We have not yet made a decision on the future of the store.”
