WOONSOCKET â€” City residents should not get their hopes too high for the return of a Wal-Mart store to Diamond Hill Road â€” at least not for now.
A Wal-Mart spokesman on Thursday said no decision has been made regarding the company's former store at Diamond Hill Road and the future use of the site is still under review.
â€śWe havenâ€™t made up our minds one way or another what we are going to do with that building,â€ť Christopher N. Buchanan, director of public affairs and government relations said of published reports that Wal-Mart is seeking bids for construction of a new Wal-Mart Superstore at the site.
Buchanan said Wal-Mart does own the former store site, and added that it is not currently being marketed.
But as for whether the company has plans locally, he said, â€śWe have not yet made a decision on the future of the store.â€ť
